Privacy policy

Adams County 911 has no accounts, no sign-up, and no forms, so it never asks you for personal information. It does use Google analytics and advertising, which are described in full below.

Information we ask you for

None. There is no login, no registration, no newsletter, no comment box, and no contact form on this site. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location, and we have no database in which to keep them.

If you choose to email us, we receive whatever you put in that email. We use it to reply and for nothing else.

What this site stores in your browser

Two things, both technical and neither identifying:

  • A theme preference saved in local storage under yc911-theme, holding the value light, dark, or system. It exists so the page does not flash the wrong colour scheme while loading.
  • A cache of pages and the most recent incident response, written by a service worker so the dashboard still opens on a poor connection. It holds only what this site had already served you publicly.

Clearing site data in your browser removes both. Neither is transmitted anywhere, and neither is used to recognise you on a later visit.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people use the dashboard and which parts of it get used. It reports aggregate figures such as page views, approximate region, device type, and referring site. We do not use it to build profiles of individuals, and we never upload personal identifiers to it.

You can prevent Google Analytics from measuring your visits entirely with Google’s official opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

This site is free to use and is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may set or read cookies and similar identifiers on your device in order to serve, measure, and limit the repetition of ads. Depending on your settings, those ads may be personalised using data Google already holds about you from elsewhere.

We do not receive that data. We have no access to which ads you were shown, no ability to target you, and no advertiser relationship that could influence the incident list — that list is a direct reflection of the county feed and is not editable by us or by anyone paying for advertising.

You can control ad personalisation directly with Google and industry opt-out tools:

Consent

Advertising and analytics storage are set to denied by default for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. In those regions nothing is stored for advertising or analytics purposes until a consent choice is recorded through the consent dialog, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the privacy options link the dialog provides.

Elsewhere, including the United States, advertising and analytics storage are enabled by default, and the opt-out tools listed above remain available to you.

Other services involved in loading this page

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the functions that read the county incident page. As with any web host, it processes connection information such as your IP address in order to serve the page and to protect against abuse. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
  • CARTO serves the map basemap, but only if you open the map view. At that point your browser requests map tiles from CARTO directly. See the CARTO privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts assets are served as part of this site’s own build rather than fetched from Google at page load.
  • Broadcastify hosts the scanner audio. The Listen menu links out to their site; no audio is streamed through this one, and you are subject to their privacy policy once you follow the link.

The county incident page is fetched by our server, not by your browser, so Adams County does not receive your IP address as a result of your visit here. Opening a unit roster is also a request to our server rather than to the county.

Children

This site is a public-safety reference aimed at adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to delete, but if you believe a child’s data has reached us through Google’s services, contact us and we will help you raise it with Google.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of personal data about you, or to opt out of its sale or sharing. We hold no personal data about you to act on. For data held by Google as a result of advertising or analytics on this site, use My Ad Center or the Google Privacy Policy, which explain the controls Google offers directly.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Continued use of the site after that date means the revised policy applies.
